An Independent, Evidence-Based Assessment
Voller Surveying Services Ltd provides independent damp investigations for residential and commercial properties. Our approach considers the building holistically, assessing moisture sources, moisture pathways and moisture mechanisms before forming conclusions and making recommendations.
Unlike many traditional damp inspections, our assessments do not rely solely upon moisture meter readings. Instead, we apply recognised building pathology principles to understand why moisture is present, identify its underlying causes and determine whether remedial intervention is genuinely necessary.
Our Approach to JPS2022
This service has been developed having regard to the principles contained within the Joint Position Statement on Damp in Buildings (JPS2022) published jointly by RICS, Historic England and the Property Care Association.
The survey seeks to identify moisture sources, moisture pathways and moisture mechanisms. Recommendations focus on causes rather than symptoms.

The Service
The service includes inspection, building pathology assessment, moisture investigation and a written report containing findings, diagnosis and recommendations.
The Inspection
Inspection may include roofs, rainwater goods, walls, floors, roof spaces, kitchens, bathrooms and areas affected by dampness where safely accessible.

Limitations of the Inspection
The survey is non-invasive unless agreed otherwise. We do not normally lift floor coverings, remove fittings, move heavy furniture, open up construction, undertake laboratory testing, destructive investigations, or test electrical, gas, drainage, heating, plumbing or ventilation systems.
The Report
The report typically includes:
- Executive summary
- Observations
- Diagnosis
- Photographic evidence
- Recommendations
- Limitations and further investigations where required
Independence
The purpose of the survey is to provide objective professional advice regarding moisture-related defects and their likely causes.
Liability and Complaints
The report is prepared for the commissioning client. A formal complaints handling procedure is available upon request.
